KYC OCR Glare and Hologram Rejection: Document Photo Checklist
OCR failures usually come from glare, blur, cropped edges, low resolution, expired documents, or data that does not match the profile. The remedy is a better original capture, not image manipulation.

Improve document clarity without editing the image
Use indirect light, a dark background, and the rear camera. Make sure all document corners are visible and the text is readable at normal zoom.
Turn off filters and avoid sending images through messaging apps before upload because compression can damage text and security patterns.
If the document is damaged or repeatedly unreadable, use another accepted government document or ask official support whether manual review is available.
Evidence package
Keep the error message, document type, upload time, and a note of what changed between attempts.
Do not send identity photos to third-party KYC helpers or private chat groups.
Risk boundaries
This guide is general information, not legal, tax, investment, or account-recovery advice. If a transaction involves third-party funds, fraud reports, gambling, money laundering, sanctions, or unknown counterparties, stop the transaction and contact the bank, the platform's official support channel, or a qualified professional.
Do not share passwords, 2FA codes, seed phrases, private keys, full card numbers, or remote access. A legitimate support process should not require secret credentials.

Field Notes: Make OCR Easier Without Editing the Document
Use the original ID, a matte background, indirect daylight, and the rear camera. Keep all four edges visible and retake the image if holograms cover the document number, date of birth, or expiry date. A clean image is better than a sharpened or filtered image, because edited files can be treated as lower-trust evidence.
Before resubmitting, compare the profile data against the document exactly: name order, middle name, accents, date format, document type, country, and expiry. If the document was recently renewed, keep the old rejection message and the new document upload time in the same support record.
